This 10-week course will look at the wartime Homefront; the lives of women and the evacuation of children; the social impact of the American GI 'invasion', bombing of towns and cities and the role of British cinema in portraying 'The Peoples War'. It will also look at the introduction of the post-war Welfare State, the Beveridge Plan and the impact of the 1945 election of Attlee's Labour Government.

Enjoy a relaxed and friendly environment that promotes debate and discussion, with no essays or accreditation.
