We are delighted to welcome guest speaker Nigel Owens to Swansea Pride - Museum Stage

Join us to hear first-hand about his life journey, and amazing high-profile career as an International Rugby Union referee.   

There will also be the chance to ask him your questions at the end of the session. 

We are delighted to announce that Ross Harries will be the host for this special event. 

Nigel Owens MBE, is a Welsh former international rugby union referee, who retired in December 2020 after a 17-year career. He currently holds the world record for the most test matches refereed. 

He is also known as a television personality, presenting on S4C TV shows "Jonathan" and the sports-themed chat show "Bwrw'r Bar". 

In 2007 Nigel was named "Gay Sports Personality of the Year" by gay rights group Stonewall, followed in 2015 with being named 'Gay Sports Personality of the Decade'. In 2017 he  was named on the Pinc List of leading Welsh LGBT figures. 

Nigel was patron of the LGBT Centre of Excellence Wales until it was disbanded in late 2012 and is still patron of the Wooden Spoon Society rugby charity.   

At the 2011 Eisteddfod Genedlaethol, he was made a member of the Gorsedd of Bards. 

Since retiring from rugby refereeing, Owens has begun farming in his home in the Gwendraeth Valley 

Ross Harries has been the face of Welsh rugby coverage for the best part of a decade, having presented Scrum V Live, Scrum V Sunday, and the Scrum V International Specials. He continues to appear regularly on BBC's Six Nations, both as a presenter and pitch side reporter.   

This live session will be around 45 minutes long.
