Digital Event: Celebration of Wool: Digital Crafternoon

Enjoy an afternoon of crafty activities whilst you discover more about the Welsh Woollen Industry, Museum Wales Collection and fleece to fabric process. Choose to bring along your own crafts to craft in your own way or try your hand at some of the crafty ‘How to’ videos provided. You decide! Tickets are limited. Book your free ticket below!

All content will be available to ticketholders between 12pm 2nd of October and 6pm 3rd of October. All content has been pre-recorded and there is no set programme for this event, the activity is free to be enjoyed at your own pace. 

A list of items that are needed for the 'How to videos' will be sent to you in advance. These videos are optional.

Join us to: 

  • Discover more about the Museum Wales Woollen Collection from past to present and how it has influenced the Alexander McQueen collection. 

  • Find out more about the fleece to fabric process at St Fagans National Museum of History and the National Wool Museum. 

  • Enjoy a natural dyeing demonstration by Susan Martin and discover more about the National Wool Museum's Dye Garden which is maintained by the Garden Volunteers.

  • Upcycle a woolly jumper into a hat with Carys-Hedd, owner of Wench Wear, an independent upcycled clothing label. 

  • Needle felt a small woolly sheep with Gwenllian Roberts, National Slate Museum Learning and Events Officer.

  • Try your hand at felting and weaving a square with National Wool Museum Craftsperson, Non Mitchell. 

  • Join Trainee National Wool Museum Craftsperson Thomas Jay Jones as he spins wool on one of the National Wool Museum’s spinning wheels

All content for this event will be bilingual (Welsh & English) excluding some elements which are to be confirmed. Welsh and English subtitles will be provided for every video.
