In 1988 a huge leatherback turtle was found washed up dead on a beach in North Wales. This turned out to be the largest extant species of turtle in the world, and Amgueddfa Cymru undertook the daunting challenge of collecting and preparing this incredible animal for public display. However, preserving such a beast for exhibition had many challenges, some of which continue still today. This talk will explore those challenges, and the subsequent conservation work that has been required to look after this iconic specimen so it can continue to be safely displayed and accessible to future generations.

This session will be held in English.
