The main source of lighting for the Roman Empire, lamps would of been fuelled either with animal fat or olive oil. This oil lamp is similar in design and size to original Roman finds displayed the National Roman Legion Museum in Caerleon. The Capricorn is an emblem of the Second Augustan Legion which founded the fortress at Caerleon (ISCA) nearly 2000 years ago and used it as their base for over 200 years.
