The Recipe
You will need
- one pound plain flour
- three or four ounces butter
- three ounces sugar
- a little bicarbonate of soda
- buttermilk
Method
- Rub the butter into the flour, and work in the other dry ingredients.
- Mix with buttermilk and knead to a soft dough.
- Roll out on a floured board and cut into small rounds, approximately a quarter of an inch thick.
- Bake on a moderately hot bakestone and serve warm.
