The Recipe
You will need
- half a pound self-raising flour
- quarter pound butter
- quarter pound lard
- five ounces sugar
- one egg and a little milk
- quarter teaspoonful salt
- half a pound cooking apples
Method
- Rub the butter and the lard into the flour and add the salt and sugar.
- Peel and cut up the apples finely and work into the dry mixture.
- Gradually add the beaten egg and milk to make a fairly stiff dough.
- Roll out thinly and cut into small squares.
- Bake on both sides on a moderately hot bakestone and sprinkle with a little sugar.
