The Recipe
You will need
- eight ounces stale bread-crumbs
- two ounces shredded suet
- threequarter pound blackberries
- threequarter pound apples, sliced
- three ounces sugar
- half a pint milk
Method
- Soak the bread-crumbs in the milk, add the suet and mix well.
- Place a layer of this mixture on the bottom of a well-greased pie dish, and cover with a layer of blackberries and apple.
- Continue to fill the dish with alternate layers of bread-crumb mixture and fruit, the final one being a thick layer of the bread-crumb mixture.
- Bake in a moderately hot oven for approximately one hour until golden brown.
