The Recipe
You will need
- half a bowl wholemeal flour
- half a teaspoonful bicarbonate of soda
- a little sugar and salt
- a little oatmeal
- a little buttermilk
Method
- Put all the dry ingredients, except the oatmeal, in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
- Sift the oatmeal into the bowl over the other ingredients and gradually add the buttermilk, mixing all together to make a fairly soft batter. (It should drop off the spoon fairly easily.)
- Pour it into a greased, hot frying pan and bake the loaf on both sides over a moderate heat.
