There is a charge for curriculum focused sessions led by Museum staff. There are four different prices (excluding VAT):
Special Educational Needs groups in Wales are eligible for free sessions.
Quality Badge Holder
We will send an invoice to your school after your visit. You must still pay if you cancel later than 10am on the day before or are late on the day and miss your session. Advertised prices exclude VAT but most schools can claim this back from their Local Authority.
Cancellations received later than 10am on the day before a booking and groups that are late on the day and miss their session must still pay the full session price. If you cancel or amend your booking you may be charged a £25 admin fee. Please contact the Learning team as early as possible if your circumstances change so that your place can be allocated to another group. Open seven days a week and most public holidays, between 10am – 4pm.

All groups of sixteen years or under must be supervised at all times.
Adult/child ratios:
The above ratios are suggested by the DFES. Group leaders should assess the risks and consider an appropriate safe supervision level for their group.
There is a Visitor Coach Park next to the Amphitheatre. Some of the roads and pavements in Caerleon are quite narrow and traffic can be heavy at times during the day, therefore care should be taken when moving groups between sites. Most of the visit will be indoors. However please bring appropriate clothing for all types of weather. The Amphitheatre and Barracks can be muddy in winter – please bring appropriate footwear. There is also little shade at these outdoor sites during sunny weather.
Staff will be present at the main entrance to the Museum to welcome you. They will confirm the details of your visit and answer any questions that you may have. We will need to know the exact number of visitors in your group.
A lunchtime slot is allocated as part of the visit timetable. A suitable room within the Museum will be provided for groups to eat lunch. In fine weather lunch may be eaten in the garden. Please take all rubbish home with you. Please note that no eating or drinking is allowed in the Museum Gallery.
There is a unisex disabled access toilet with baby changing facilities in the Museum Gallery. There are male and female toilets in the Capricorn Centre that are suitable for children, plus a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities. For the outdoor sites there is a public toilet next to the Amphitheatre.
A map is available from the reception desk of the Museum.
Groups are able to use the cloakroom situated near the main reception desk whilst working in the Museum Gallery. There is also a space for coats and bags within the Capricorn Centre.
Visitors are permitted to take photographs for personal use throughout the course of the visit.
As a courtesy to other visitors, please do not use your mobile phone when in the Galleries.
The shop sells a wide range of products such as small toys, books and postcards. Please help with supervision by ensuring that no more than 6 children visit the shop at a time.
We ask that all children and young people under the age of 16 be supervised at all times.
Smoking is not allowed in any of the buildings or garden area.
These are available for teachers or group leaders wishing to familiarise themselves with the Museum. Please telephone to make arrangements before-hand if you wish to speak to a member of the Learning team on the day of your preview visit.
If first aid attention is needed please contact one of the Museum Assistants or Facilitators, who will then summon a trained member of staff.
Group leaders should contact the Learning team if any member of the group has any specific medical needs.
An alarm will sound in the event of a fire. On hearing the alarm your group should evacuate the building by following the signs to the nearest fire exit. You will receive instructions from members of staff.
Please note that the visit will take place in more than one site so great care should be taken to keep the group together. Please advise children that if they are separated from their group to inform a member of staff. Should a group leader become aware that one if their group is missing, they should inform a member of staff who will take appropriate action.
