Hear the exciting story of the 'Robin Gôch' monoplane, the first powered aeroplane to be built in Wales. Find out all about the surprising materials used to make it and the mystery of whether it ever got off the ground!

This workshop is led by award winning local author and illustrator Thomas Docherty. Thomas will explain the process of bringing an illustrated story to life on the page and help you create your very own illustrations based on the amazing, real-life story of the 'Robin Gôch'.

You will have the opportunity to view the actual monoplane in the museum, built by Charles Horace Watkins in 1908 and even sit in the replica cockpit on display.

You will meet Thomas Docherty, who will guide you through an illustration and creative writing workshop, inspired by the real-life story of the 'Robin Gôch', built by Cardiff inventor and engineer Charles Horace Watkins. Fun, historical, creative and inspiring! 

 

Duration: 1 hour
Cost: Led by Museum staff - £40 for up to 15 pupils, £60 for up to 35. Free for some schools (see booking information).
