Senior Curator: Entomology

Areas of Responsibility:

Curator and collection manager responsible for the entomology collections. Managing acquisitions, loans, collection visits, tours and documentation associated with the extensive entomology collection. Leading on digitisation of the entomology collections. Involved in research and interpretation of the collection through display, exhibitions, social media, outreach and publication. Supervision of student placements and volunteers, and the main point of contact for honorary researchers working in the collection.

Qualifications, memberships and relevant positions

BSc Hons in Zoology with Animal Behaviour at the University of Wales Bangor, MSc Conservation Biology with Zoo Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University. Member of the Natural Sciences Collections Association (NatSCA), Royal Society of Entomology (R. Entomol. Soc.), British Entomological and Natural History Society (BENHS) and on the Board of Directors for South East Wales Biodiversity Records Centre (SEWBReC).

Research Interests

Background in population genetics and the preservation of genetic material for future research applications via biodiversity biobanking. Current primary interest is in making the entomology collections digitally discoverable and accessible to support wider research projects and initiatives.
