Slate industry collection (which includes slate quarry workshop complex and its’s original in-situ engineering equipment, waterwheel, and wooden foundry patterns; slate quarrying hand tools; early twentieth century locomotives, wagons, and extractors; drawings and sculptures relating to the slate industry; archive photographs; original engineer’s house, and re-erected quarrymen’s houses, all accurately furnished; oral history).

BA (Hons) History / Educational Studies (Bangor University)
MA Museum Studies (University of Leicester).

Research Interests

History and development of the slate industry in Wales; social aspects of the slate industry, and the communities that developed around the slate quarries; history and development of Dinorwig Quarry, especially the closure of the quarry; emigration from the slate quarrying area of Wales to other slate producing countries (specifically the USA); reaction of slate quarrymen to the First World War; history of industrial museums; slate quarrying terms and the importance of the Welsh language.
