Senior Curator: Prints & Drawings

Areas of Responsibility:

Curation and management of the collection of works of art on paper – about 40,000 works (watercolours, drawings, prints, photographs, miniatures, sketchbooks, albums) and of the prints and drawings study room. Curation of The Power of the Land: The Welsh Landscape gallery, Looking to France: British Art around 1900 gallery and other art galleries. Temporary exhibitions curator and co-ordinator of the department exhibitions and events programme.

Qualifications, memberships and relevant positions

History of Art BA (Hons) University of Manchester.  MA Art Museums Studies, Courtauld Institute of Art (2007). Chair of UK and Ireland Print Curators Forum (ongoing since 2012). Member of MA.

Research Interests

Golden Age of Watercolour painting in Wales, J.M.W. Turner, Thomas Jones, 20th century British art including Gwen John and Augustus John, David Jones, collectors including Gwendoline and Margaret Davies. First World War Welsh Art.  Landscape painting of Wales. Artists’ sketchbooks.  History of collections and art patronage, with particular reference to Wales.
