Fron Haul: A journey through time

How has the way people live changed over time? Visit the Fron Haul quarrymen’s houses with our facilitator to search for clues and explore how families cooked, washed, slept and socialized in 1861, 1901 and 1969.

Duration: 45 minutes
Cost: Led by Museum staff - £40 for up to 15 pupils, £60 for up to 35. Free for some schools (see booking information).

Curriculum

Humanities – Human societies are complex and diverse, and are shaped by human actions and beliefs. 

Learning objectives – 

  • Through exploring the houses and objects, be able to recognise similarities and differences between people’s lives in the past and the present.
  • To identify how different aspects of life in quarrying communities has changed over time.
  • To explore how changes in domestic life, such as the invention of electricity, changed the way that people live.
