Half Term and Hallowe'en Events

If you're looking for some Half Term and Hallowe'en activities to keep young monsters busy next week, then the Welsh Slate Museum Llanberis is the place to visit.

Hallowe'en activities take place on 24–28 October and on October 30. Children and families can make spooky crafts, including lanterns and spiders, in the Museum's popular craft workshops which run between 11am and 1pm and 2pm – 4pm. On 30 October — between 1pm and 4pm — there are more craft workshops as well as face painting and a chance to meet some of the owls of the North Wales Bird Trust.

On Monday and Tuesday , 24–25 October, all visitors to the Museum can take part in the annual BIG DRAW event. The buildings and collections of the Museum have inspired many artists over the years and now the Museum is calling on budding artists to come and draw their favourite bits of the Museum. Resident artist Dyfrig Peris will be on hand to offer tips and hints and materials will all be supplied.

Also on these two days, author Jean Mead will be at the Museum signing copies of her newly published book, The Widow Makers, set in the quarry areas of north Wales in the 19th Century.

“Half term is always a busy time for us and hopefully all these events will help our visitors enjoy the site even more.' said Julie Williams, Marketing Officer.

The Welsh Slate Museum is one of seven national museums administered by the National Museums & Galleries of Wales. The National Waterfront Museum in Swansea officially opens its doors for the first time this week to tell the stories of industry and innovation and the impact of the Industrial Revoloution on Wales and its people. Other NMGW sites are the National Museum & Gallery, Cardiff, Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans, Big Pit: National Mining Museum, Blaenafon - winner of this year's prestigious Gulbenkian Prize — Roman Legionary Museum, Caerleon, and the National Woollen Museum, Dre-fach Felindre.

Entry to the Welsh Slate Museum Llanberis is FREE thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government. All events are FREE but there is an additional cost for the craft workshops of £1.
