Advent with Aneurin the Artist

Aneurin Jones book signing at National Wool Museum

Artist Aneurin Jones, painter of rural West Wales, will be signing copies of his new book ‘Byd Aneurin’ by Gwasg Lolfa at the National Wool Museum, Dre-fach Felindre on 13 December 2007.

 

An autobiography, the book includes stories and memories of places and people who have influenced him throughout his career. Delving further into his life as an artist, there will be a few examples of his work at the National Wool Museum.

 

Visitors are encouraged to arrive by 7pm to take advantage of the opportunity to do some late night Christmas shopping at the Museum shop – an alternative way to by your gifts throughout December - and enjoy a bite to eat at the Fold Café until 9pm.

 

Ann Whittall, Museum Manager said: “We are very fortunate that Aneurin Jones, who has exhibited his work in galleries in Wales, London and America, with examples of his work in private and public collections in locations such as Canada and Holland, is helping us celebrate Christmas this year.”

 

The Museum’s Christmas festivities will being on 1 December with a Christmas Craft Fair from 10am – 4pm providing visitors with the opportunity to find that unique Christmas gift.

 

TV Chef, Nerys Howell will be sharing tips on how best to prepare Christmas delights

on 6 December at 7pm. Tickets are £5 and can be bought in advance through phoning 01559 370929. Continuing with festive food, Christmas lunch will be served on 5 and 12 December but booking is essential and hot turkey rolls will be available throughout the month of December.

 

Father Christmas will join in the fun on 15 December together with seasonal music  (10am – 5pm) and there will be a Seasonal Craft Workshop for the children.

 

In December, the whole family can enjoy activities offered by the Art Cart, and as a treat after completing the activity visit the Gorlan Cafe which will be offering seasonal treats throughout the month.

 

The National Wool Museum is part of Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales which operates six other national museums across Wales. These are National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans: National History Museum, National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon, Big Pit: National Coal Museum, Blaenafon, National Waterfront Museum and the National Slate Museum, Llanberis.

 

Entry to all Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum sites is free, thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government.
