What might I do on a placement here?

• Shadow front-of-house staff – this could be on the galleries, in the main hall or on the reception desk.
• Shadow back-of-house staff – this could be porter duties, housekeeping and/or general maintenance tasks.
• Admin – this could be working in an office environment doing basic administrative tasks.

What will I gain from a placement here?

• Experience of working as part of a team in a supportive setting.
• Develop work-based skills such as communication, problem-solving and timekeeping.
• A confidence boost!

Do I need to speak Welsh to do a placement here?

• Please note that demand for Skills Development placements at National Museum Cardiff is high and placements are subject to availability. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a placement for everyone.

To support people on a placement we:

• reimburse travel expenses to and from the Museum.
• provide any clothing that may be required for the role, for example: overalls, uniform, boots, etc.
• offer discounts in our cafés and shops.
• provide references at the end of the placement.
