Skills Development Placements

Do you feel that something is blocking you from developing workplace skills, or is limiting your self-confidence? Maybe our Skills Development Placements can help you gain valuable workplace experience and transferable skills.

Skills Development Placements are meaningful opportunities for people who:

  • are 16 years old and above.
  • have barriers to employment such as a learning disability.
  • are not currently in formal education, employment or training.
  • are able to do the placement independently (you will have mentor support from our staff).

We can work closely with you to tailor a placement to your interests and needs. You could take part for half a day to a full day per week, for up to six months; this can change depending on the placement and your needs.

We have worked with individuals, charities and colleges to provide opportunities for many people, including autistic people, people with mental health conditions, refugees and people who are long-term unemployed. Please note that this list is not exclusive or exhaustive.

We can offer Skills Development Placements at each of our Museums:

National Museum Cardiff

St Fagans National Museum of History

National Waterfront Museum

Big Pit National Coal Museum

National Slate Museum

National Wool Museum

National Roman Legion Museum
