Get Involved with the Redevelopment

National Slate Museum is currently closed for a major redevelopment project to breathe new life into our popular museum and to protect our spectacular historic buildings and our collections of global importance so that future generations can experience and enjoy the incredible story of slate.

We need people like you to volunteer your time, tell us what you think, help us create events and exhibitions, and make us relevant to the people of Cymru today. See below for the different ways to get involved.

Volunteering and Work Experience

Do you love the Museum and want to represent its special heritage? Do you want to make an important contribution to Amgueddfa Cymru and the story of Wales?

Volunteers and individuals on work experience will take part in all kinds of projects over the course of the redevelopment. Your contribution can offer a new perspective, help us with learning activities or help us tell new stories. Get the latest information about opportunities here:

Young People

Whilst the National Slate Museum is closed, our next step is to continue our story beyond the walls of the museum. We want to involve young people in the process.

Amgueddfa Cymru Producers (ACPs) are a group of young people aged 16 – 25 living in or from Wales who collaborate with the Museum through participatory and paid opportunities. Our Amgueddfa Cymru Producers deepen their knowledge and ensure that cultural and heritage spaces are more representational of the young people and their many cultures that make up Wales today. We are here to make heritage relevant!
