Voices of the Red Wall

The decision to award Qatar the 2022 World Cup was not without controversy. Welsh fans were among those opposed to Qatar's policies against LGBTQ+ safety and inclusion, labour rights and women's rights, as well as the environmental impact of the decision. Supporters of our national football teams are called The Red Wall and are often described as the twelfth player on the pitch.

This exhibition shone a spotlight on some of the people and communities of The Red Wall, referring to fashion, music, identity and politics. The exhibit also includes items relating to the LGBTQ+ community and their connection to football, The Rainbow Wall and Football vs. Homophobia. Chanting the message that we are stronger together and as supporters we should be constantly thinking about and fighting for equality across the game.

A round pin badge with gold-coloured edging and a dark blue background. The badge says We Belong in white text with a red dragon in front of a rainbow shield underneath. Around the edge of the pin is the word together in green and stronger in red.
A Rainbow Wall flag. The flag is rainbow striped with a dragon in a crest shape in the centre. It says Rainbow Wall above the dragon.
