Spotlight on the producers - Green Beans Coffee Bike
1. Describe your company in one sentence.
Green Beans Coffee Bike is an award winning, sustainable, mobile local business that serves freshly handmade, vegan and gluten free sweet treats alongside amazing organic locally roasted coffee!
2. What are you passionate about in your business? What drives you?
I always feel happy when I see a customer with dietary restrictions realise that we serve something they can eat! That's the reason why I started this business, I wanted everyone to find something they can eat when they are out and about, no matter what dietary restrictions they have, and without ever compromising on quality or taste. Having people coming back to give us some positive feedback after they have bought something from the coffee bike always makes my day, and it gives me the motivation to carry on when I am having a tough day.
3. What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
Don't be afraid to try various ways to do business until you find the way that works best for you. We are still a very new business, and have had many challenging days when we've made a loss, but also some nice surprises when catering at events where we have been a lot busier than we had anticipated!
4. Are you seeing any new trends emerging in the Welsh food & drink industry?
I am quite new in this industry, but it seems to me that Welsh producers all really care about the authenticity and quality of their products. I have come across some businesses that really surprised me; such as someone growing pulses like chickpeas and lentils in West Wales, and another fascinating business going from making ice cream from the fruit on their farm to producing homegrown tea in the Vale of Glamorgan that is now stocked by Harrods!
5. Who else on the Welsh food & drink producer scene excites or inspires you currently?
People like those I have just mentioned above, but also so many other small, local producers that are often a one man/woman band or a small family business, being really innovative and working their socks off to create some niche products and make a living from it.
6. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
Now that's a tough question... I love Middle Eastern/Asian flavours and I always crave salads, so probably a Buddha bowl. I never get tired of them.
7. Who would you invite to your private dinner party?
A mix of rock stars like Mick Jagger, ACDC and Tina Turner and some of my family members could be fun! I can imagine dinner turning into a full blown party, which I would no doubt leave before the end to go to bed!
8. How can people find out more about your business and produce?
I have a website www.immunobox.co.uk that explains a little bit more about my business, and how Green Beans Coffee Bike was born to give me an outlet to sell my cakes locally. I am also on Facebook and Instagram, both as ImmunoBoxUK and GreenBeansCoffeeBike.
