We can also provide a variety of textile related workshops, including weaving and felt making. Your pupils can get creative and discover for themselves the fascinating world of textile production and design.
The museum Trail
A tour of the Museum will enhance pupils learning as they see the development from the Domestic Industry to the Industrial Machinery and stories of the people who lived and worked in the local community.
The Village trail
A village trail brings the effect of the Industrial Revolution to life as you discover the sites of old factories, compare the houses of the Mill owners to those of the workers, and see the growth of the village, through its churches, chapels, shops and community hall.
Annual Colleges Competition
Each year the National Wool Museum, invite students from across Wales to submit work for an exciting textile related competition based on various themes. Colleges will be supplied with a brief and inspiration pack which is an excellent resource to explore the images, color and themes. There are two elements to the competition and students can choose either to follow an art based theme or to design a commerical product. The work will be selected and displayed at the Museum. Prizes will be given to the successful students including the opportunity to work with our Enterprise department to develop the commercial product for sale in the Museum shops. Learning Resource for Welsh Learners
An online resource for Welsh learners at Mynediad,Sylfaen, Canolradd and Uwch levels. Gwau Geiriau encourages learners to visit the National Wool Museum and use its displays and resources to enhance the Welsh learning experience. Professional artist Julia Griffiths Jones has created five pieces of work that are displayed around the Museum. An activity has been created to engage children with each piece. Julia’s work offers a contemporary and personal response to the collection and the trail allows pupils to respond creatively to the museum.

The First World War Education Project
The National Library of Wales and National Museum Wales are leading a project to produce education resources for schools to commemorate the centenary of the First World War. As part of this project we are using items from the collections of both institutions to create digital teaching resources for Hwb.
