Frequently asked questions for General admission tickets

Do I need to book a ticket in advance?

Walk-up entry to National Roman Legion Museum is available, but to ensure you get the most out of your visit we recommend you book a free ticket in advance.

If entry is free, why do I need to book a ticket?

Booking in advance isn’t essential and we continue to offer a warm welcome to visitors who decide to come along on the day without a pre-booked ticket. Booking your ticket in advance will mean you receive key information and updates ahead of your arrival, helping you make the most of your visit.

What do I need to do when I arrive?

Visitors to National Roman Legion Museum will be greeted by one of our friendly members of staff who will be happy to scan your ticket for you or point you towards a scanner to register your visit.

Does my ticket include entry to the Roman Baths?

Tickets for National Roman Legion Museum do not give you entry to the Cadw Roman Baths. If you’d like to visit the Roman Baths at the same time, please visit Cadw's website for ticket information.

How far in advance am I able to book?

Tickets are available to book up to three weeks before your visit, and we’ll be in touch nearer your arrival with key information and updates to help you make the most of your day.

What is the latest time I can arrive?

Whilst there is no last entry time, we recommend allowing at least an hour to make the most of what the Museum has to offer. National Roman Legion Museum closes at 5pm Monday – Sunday from March to October and at 4pm from November to February. Full opening hours can be found here .

What do I do if I can’t make it on the day I’ve booked or I would like to swap the day?

We understand plans can change. If you can’t visit us or would like change the date of your visit, please contact ticketing@museumwales.ac.uk and one of the team will be happy to help you.
