This plate depicts a scene from 'Little Red Riding Hood'. The Ynysmeudwy Pottery produced domestic earthenware and architectural ceramics from about 1845 to 1875. It was situated on the Swansea Canal at Ynysmeudwy, near Pontardawe, ten miles north east of Swansea.

Hi Paul,

Although the Ynysmeudwy pottery was a relatively small one, it seems to have made everyday wares in quite large numbers, and that includes small children’s plates like this, which are among the most commonly found examples of their products.
