This plate is decorated with a transfer print depicting a woman feeding chickens. The Ynysmeudwy Pottery produced domestic earthenware and architectural ceramics from about 1845 to 1875. It was situated on the Swansea Canal at Ynysmeudwy, near Pontardawe, ten miles north east of Swansea.

To follow up - there isn't much written about the Ynysmeudwy pottery, but we have two books in our library which would give you more information about how scarce or valuable they are: 'Ynysmeudwy and the Williamses' by Mike Trew and 'Welsh Ceramics in Context Part 2' by Jonathan Gray (ed.) - you would be very welcome to come and have a look at the books. pottery and even more not many locals know of this place .I would like to know are there many pieces of pottery still about and if so are they valueable.
