Title: Visualising the Sea Horizon: A Poetic Meditation (through Haiku form)

Format: Creative-Therapeutic Workshop

Description: What potential do sea horizons open for inward reflection and creative expression? How might the meeting of sky and sea reflect our own inner thoughts and feelings at different junctures of our lives? Inspired by The Sea Horizon exhibit by Garry Fabian Miller, this two-part creative-therapeutic workshop first asks us to reflect upon these questions through visualisation meditation and reflective silence. It then guides participants to conceptualise their thoughts and feelings into the Japanese Haiku poetic form. The three-line 5-7-5 syllable structure of the Haiku is ideal as it helps us foreground our reflections of sky-horizon-sea through creative expression. The session concludes with reflective readings of our 'Sea Horizon' Haikus.
