Event:New Heights: Caribbean Contributions
The Welsh mining sector, unveils the resilience and strength they've displayed in the face of adversity.
Be among the first to preview Anthony Wright's captivating play, 'Justice Is Served,' An intertwining of Radio Broadcast and Theatre Performance. Directed by Robert Marrable and produced by Gareth Clarke - Anthony’s piece, inspired by his own father’s experience – explores the life of a Jamaican Miner after arriving in Wales in the 1950’s.
We will also be screening Nathan Blake's documentary program, 'Wales's Black Miners.'
“Nathan Blake’s journey in unearthing the truth about the brave men, who toiled shoulder to shoulder with white miners. Reflecting on what it means to be black and Welsh, both in the past and in the present, and what still needs to change.”
In paying homage to the past, we aim to shed light on the remarkable journeys that have propelled both elders and contemporaries to reach New Heights. This event is a celebration of resilience, a testament to the human spirit that overcame countless obstacles.

“By comparing the cultural legacies of these communities, we can appreciate the lasting impact of their stories.”
