Taking place after hours in National Museum Cardiff’s main hall, this unique paint along experience is one you won’t want to miss.   Whether you’re passionate about painting or fancy trying something new, this event is for everyone – no experience is required to take part.   Unwind and switch off while learning a new skill or two.  This is the perfect midweek evening event for friends, colleagues, and couples.   Unleash your inner creative at this museum paint-along event.

Topic: Renoir’s La Parisienne

Also known as ‘The Blue Lady’, La Parisienne has just returned from her holidays at the Musee D’Orsay as part of the Paris 1874: Inventing Impressionism exhibition. 

To celebrate her return home to Cardiff, follow step-by-step instructions to paint your interpretation of this renowned artwork. 

This event is hosted by local artist Rachel Rasmussen.  

Important information: 

  • All materials will be provided and are included in the ticket price.  
  • Sip while you paint.  Our pop-up bar will be open for orders from start to finish.  Drinks are not included in the ticket price.   
  • This is an 18+ only event. 
  • Tickets are non-refundable and spaces are very limited. Grab your tickets while you can! 
  • Tickets include an after-hours visit to the impressionist gallery to see the painting in the flesh. 
  • This event will be delivered and guided in the artists’ first language, which is English.

Opening Hours

10am–5pm. Galleries close at 4.45pm.

Open for 6 days a week Tuesday to Sunday. Closed Mondays but open Bank Holiday Monday.

Admission is free, however a charge may apply for some exhibitions, events and activities.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Parking

A Visitor Car Park is situated behind the Museum, off Museum Avenue. Visitors parking here will receive a ticket at the point of entry and need to pay £6.50 for the day at a pay-station located at the rear of the car park. Please note that the pay-stations only accept card payments – no cash payments are accepted. Visitors can use any credit/debit cards (except for American Express), or Apple or Android Pay.

Parking is free to blue badge holders. Please use the intercom at the exit barrier to verify your blue badge permit. Disabled parking is also available at the front of the Museum, on Gorsedd Gardens Road.

Eat, Drink, Shopping

  • The Museum café in the Main Hall is open every day 10am-4pm offering a range of drinks and snacks.
  • The restaurant is open weekends and bank holidays at 11am-3pm.

Accessibility

If you prefer to visit when we’re less crowded, there are usually fewer people on our site from 3pm each day.
