Trevithick's Penydarren locomotive model

Model of Trevithick’s Penydarren locomotive of 1804. Static model with flywheel, pinions and plateway wheels actuated by an electric motor located within base of display case. Model based on Llewellyn drawing of 1803 (in the 1960s when the model was commissioned by the Museum, widely regarded as depicting the Penydarren locomotive), making the model a representation of either the Coalbrookdale locomotive of 1803 (usual interpretation 1980s-2010s) or of an unbuilt design (interpretation of Lewis et al, 2018).
