Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Barry Railway, photograph

View of the Barry Railway Company’s newly built Treforest Junction Exchange Yard, looking north west. Taken around winter 1888/89, prior to the line opening to coal traffic in 1889. Immediately beyond the contractor’s wagons standing on the leftmost (southern) track, the Barry Railway Company’s Treforest Goods Station would be opened in 1907. Treforest Junction itself, where the Barry Railway Treforest Branch joined the Taff Vale Railway, lies just out of sight beyond the further curve in the tracks. Llantwit Road lies on top of the left (south) retaining wall. The telegraph posts immediately beyond the right (north) retaining wall and boundary fence lie on the south side of the Taff Vale Railway. Mounted on card.
