S.S. FORT POPLAR (7133gt). North sands type built 1942 by Burrard Dry Dock Co., North Vancouver for USWSA / MoWT (managed by Frank C. Strick & Co., London). 1947 – Returned to US Maritime Commission. 1948 – Sold to Italian owners and renamed ETRUSCO. 1956 – She ran ashore near Cedar Point, Massachusetts on 16th March when encountering bad weather during a voyage from Erenameden to Boston. 1956 – Refloated on 22nd November, she was sold to Liberian owners and renamed SCITUATE. 1961 – Sold to Greek owners and renamed IRENE X. On 8th April 1964, she ran aground near Haiphong while en route for Korea. She was refloated but badly damaged, and was towed to Hong Kong to be broken up.
