Half hull ship model of the S.S. MELROSE ABBEY built in 1877 by Thomas Turnbull and Son, Whitby, for Pyman Bros, Cardiff.

S.S. MELROSE ABBEY (1) (1211 tons). Built by Thomas Turnbull and Son, Whitby in 1877 for Pyman Bros, Cardiff. In 1897 the ship was transferred to the Melrose Abbey Steamship Co. Ltd. (Pyman, Watson and Company), Cardiff. In 1907 ownership of ship was transferred to Melrose Abbey Steamship Co. (1907) Ltd (Jones and Pritchard) Cardiff. On 31 July 1909 the MELROSE ABBEY was wrecked on Les Fourches, off Penmarch, on passage from Arcachon to Barry with pitwood.
