Built 1943 as heavy-lift cargo vessel EMPIRE CHIEFTAIN by Furness Shipbuilding Ltd., at Haverton Hill-on-Tees, for MoWT, managed by Royal Mail Lines. She was powered by two steam turbines built by Richardson, Westgarth & Co Ltd. 1946 – Sold to Royal Mail Lines, and renamed LOCHRYAN. 1960 – Sold to Argonaut Shipping & Trading Co Ltd., London, and was renamed FAIR RYAN for her final voyage to Nagasaki where she was broken up in July 1960.
