Bronze Age Gold from Wales
Boulder and tide 2003
NASH, David (b. 1945)
The Wooden Boulder is a simple shape cut from a fallen tree. Using film, photography, sculpture and drawing, David Nash captured its journey and how it engaged with the weather, gravity and the seasons for 25 years. Occasionally he would help it to move, but mostly he allowed nature to determine the boulder’s course. In 2003 it was carried out to sea and has not been seen since.
