Bronze Age Gold from Wales
Tenby
Tenby is now perhaps Wales’s best known seaside resort, but it did not become famous until the early nineteenth century. These fresh, vivid drawings depict a quiet port and undeveloped shoreline, peopled by working figures. Francis Place was one of the first British artists to specialise in drawing landscape. He visited Wales in 1678 and these drawings are among the earliest known images of Wales drawn on the spot.
