Bronze Age Gold from Wales

First aid box

Metal first aid container from Big Pit washery, late 1970s. Painted white with red lettering and crosses. Seems to be a re-used military ammunition container. As this is from the washery, which was a distance from the colliery medical centre in the pithead baths, the box was a larger version of the normal basic first aid container which was carried around in the bag of certain workmen. It would have been kept in the washery office or workshop.
