Bottle-shaped vase, stoneware, orange body with coarse grit inclusions, inset base, the body gently sloping to an upright neck, with an angular, ogee profile towards the base; ash glaze with brown speckles, the neck with a brown glaze and the body decorated with loose, free brushstrokes in brown reminiscent of Japanese brush calligraphy, the base is wiped clean of glaze.
