Upper Rhondda Centre Miners Strike 1984-85, badge

Badge worn by Mike Jackson, co-founder of Lesbians and Gay Men Support the Miners (LGSM). LGSM was founded by Mark Aston and Mike Jackson to support striking miners during the 1984-85 miners’ strike. The London branch twinned with the Neath, Dulais and Swansea Valley Miners’ Support Group, which embraced several collieries from the three valleys. LGSM members were presented with badges by miners from collieries in the area.

Circular brass badge with headgear, crossed tool and dram at centre set in green and white enamel. Inscription around set in black enamel. Pin clasp on reverse.
