Reardon Smith Line crew members, 1931

Photograph showing Reardon Smith Line crew members aboard the S.S. TACOMA CITY at San Pedro, California, 1931. Captain Thomas (then First Mate) is standing second from left. The central figure is Laurence Tibbett a well know opera star of the time who was making a Hollywood film in the area, shooting waterfront scenes. Long handwritten inscription on reverse.

S.S. TACOMA CITY (1) (4738gt). Built 1929 by William Gray at West Hartlepool. She was mined and sank in the River Mersey on 13 March 1941.
