The following notes describing the machines and how they operated were provided by the inventor:

Comprises equal armed beam which operates two needles in feed shute, at one end of beam a weight is suspended at the other end a revolving bucket divided in the centre. The needles are so arranged and operated that only one ball is allowed to pass at a time. The bucket is held from turning by a stop on frame, when a ball falls into bucket, bucket descends, passes stop on frame, revolves, and in revolving discharges ball.
