Bronze Age Gold from Wales
Le Pont
VLAMINCK, Maurice de (1876 - 1958)
Cézanne was a profound influence on Vlaminck from 1908. This composition of 1912-13 probably derives from Cézanne's 'Bridge over the Marne at Créteil' (Pushkin Museum, Moscow) of 1893-95. It was purchased by Gwendoline Davies from the Polish-born Parisian dealer Leopold Zborowski in 1919.
Work was part of the AFA tour (2009-2010): From Turner to Cézanne: Masterpieces from the Davies Collection, National Museum Wales
