HEDEGAARD, Peter (Peter Hedegaard was born in Copenhagen in 1929 and came to England with his parents in 1935. He was educated at Charterhouse and Hertford College, Oxford. He then studied design at the Bartlett School of Architecture. After a short period of working as a designer he turned to painting and worked at his studio in Belsize Park, London. He was mainly interested in forms, shapes and the interaction of colour. He was greatly inspired by Piero della Francesca and Josef Albers. His contemporaries included among others Bridget Riley, Jeremy Moon, Michael Kidner, Tess Jaray and Peter Kalkhof. During the 1960s and 70s he exhibited regularly in Britain and abroad. In 1965 he produced the first limited editions of screen prints, not an established artistic medium at that time.
