Bronze Age Gold from Wales

A sunflower

The sunflower was particularly associated with the Aesthetic Movement of the 1870s and ‘80s. The Japanese vase, richly embroidered fabric, peacock feathers and carved table were also highly fashionable in late Victorian Britain. Frohawk was a successful zoological artist, which may account for the detailed accuracy of this still life painting.
