HOMER CITY (2) (6988gt) : Built 1944 as EMPIRE RANGOON by Harland & Wolff Ltd., Belfast, managed for MoWT initially by T & J Harrison Ltd., then by Sir William Reardon Smith & Son Ltd., Cardiff 1946 Sold to the Reardon Smith Line Ltd., Cardiff, and renamed HOMER CITY. 1960 Sold to Grosvenor Shipping Co Ltd., London and renamed GROSVENOR MARINER, managed by Mollers Ltd., Hong Kong. 1966 – Sold to Tat On Shipping & Enterprises Co. Ltd., Hong Kong, and renamed RED SEA, managed by Yick Fung of Hong Kong. On 17 August 1971, she was driven ashore at Hong Kong during Typhoon Rose. She was later refloated, but broken up locally soon afterwards. (Paul Heaton)
