Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Barry Docks, negative

S.S. PACIFIC TRADER loading scrap metal for foreign markets at Barry Docks.

Due to a decrease in demand for scrap by British Steelworks, and an increase by other countries (China in particular, but also Japan, Argentina and the Continent), greater export licences by the British Board of Trade allowed larger cargoes of scrap metal to leave Britain - 106,000 tons between January and May 1967 compared to 8000 tons for the same period in 1966.

S.S. PACIFIC TRADER (7178GT) built 1942 by Todd-Bath S.B Corp., Portland-Maine, USA. Owned by Intertrader ex WINCHESTER KING (1966), NICHOLAS K (1964), OCEAN RIDER (1947)
