AKTI HILL. Built 1944 as North Sands type Liberty ship FORT LA CLOCHE by Marine Industries Ltd., Sorel (engine by Dominion Engineering Works Ltd., Montreal), for MoWT (managed by Buries Markes Ltd., London – McCowen & Gross Ltd from 1946). 1950 – Acquired by Nova Scotia Marine Enterprise Co. (managed by Counties Ship Management Co., London), and renamed AKTI HILL. 1958 – Sold to Merida Cia. Nav.,of Panama and renamed CAPE DREPANON. She ran aground at Long Island on 1 February 1961, and although refloated on the 12th, was deemed a total loss and was sold for breaking up.
