Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Miner underground, photograph

One of a series of postcards illustrating various facets of coal mining titled "Coal Mining - Tugging from Spout Hole". This one shows a small boy with a chain around his wrist and running between his legs attached to a small container of coal which he drags to the roadway to fill into trams. A spout hole was a small connecting passage of air.
