Section of cable from the National Grid

Length of 30mm diameter conductor cable as used by the National Grid, of a type known as Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR). This particular variety was code named "Zebra" (ACSR family of conductors are named after animals, e.g. "Horse" and "Lynx", which will identify them throughout the world), and had an Operating Voltage of 400,000 volts.
