Looking north from Maesglas Road overbridge at Ebbw Junction, Newport. From left to right: Ebbw Junction engine shed coal stage and water tank with engine shed in distance behind, special station platform built for the Royal Welsh Show at Ebbw Bridge, Newport, July 1927 with prominent white edging, Western Loop (partly obscured by locomotive smoke) connecting to Ebbw Valley lines, Ebbw Junction Signal Box, south Wales main line immediately right of signal box, West Sidings, and at right side of photo part of Field Sidings. In the distance spanning all the lines is the former Newport (Alexandra) Dock & Railway Co’s overbridge that carried traffic from the Ebbw Valleys via Park Junction (to the left/west), across the south Wales main line, to Mendalgief Sidings and Newport Docks (to the right/east).
